Wabi Sabi & A Road Trip
I have a friend, Suzanne, who’s been a friend going way back to when our children were born. Many years ago, Suzanne told me that imperfections in furniture add character. You know those edges and surfaces that get worn over time, a chair or sofa that gets that “used often” look? It is actually a sign of a well-loved piece. At that time, I could not wrap my head around that statement. I was in a mindset of wanting the finishes to all look perfect, even after a table or chair had daily use. Of course, like many people, my tastes have evolved and changed over the years. I am definitely less formal now, more relaxed in my style. I have not perfected decorating but believe I, and my home, are a work in progress. Have your tastes changed too? Don’t feel like you’re alone. It is common!
